It should feel snug and be held slightly up at a 30 – 40 degree angle. NEVER BURN AN EAR CONE STRAIGHT UP. (0 degrees is parallel to the floor and 90 degree is straight up) The anatomy of each person is different and candle angle may need to be adjusted to each persons comfort. Watch for smoke at the base of the cone. You will hear a pleasant crackling and hissing of the flame when the cone is in the proper place in the ear.

  15. Dip the end of the cone in the container of water to put the flame out, then wrap the remaining piece of cone into the wet paper towels for safety.
  16. Clean the outer ear with a soft cotton swab if need.
  17. Repeat steps 1-16 for the other ear. Rest for at least 10 minutes following a coning.
